Little Lincoln author to hold storytimes at Pittsburgh events

Local children’s author Michael Scotto will hold storytime reading events at two Family Outdoor Festivals this summer.

The first event will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 at McKinley Park in Mt. Oliver. The second event will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 at Allegheny Commons on the North Side.

Scotto, an employee of the National Network of Digital Schools (NNDS), will read three of his children’s books from the Tales of Midlandia series at each event. The Tales of Midlandia series is used exclusively in the Little Lincoln elementary curriculum provided by NNDS.

“NNDS is thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in a community event which promotes the importance of reading for young children and makes the unique books that are part of the Little Lincoln curriculum accessible to local families,” said Kellie Hamilton, director of elementary curriculum for NNDS.

Scotto has written more than 20 children’s fiction books and four chapter books for NNDS. He has recently completed his first novel, Latasha and the Little Red Tornado, which will be used in the Lincoln Interactive third grade curriculum. This novel will be available to the public in November.

The Family Outdoor Festivals are held by Venture Outdoors, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization that promotes families participating in outdoor activities. For more information about the event, visit
